The Remains of Progress (art installation)
At a time when dystopia no longer belongs to the realm of speculation but to everyday experience, our ability to imagine the future seems increasingly compressed. What remains if we remove the human presence from our landscapes? What do the remnants we are already leaving behind reveal about us? Solar water heaters, unfinished real estate projects, broken car mirrors, familiar objects appearing as residues of a civilization still trying to convince itself that it is moving toward something. A space where catastrophe does not emerge as an event, but as an atmosphere that invites us to (re)view an overall system through a microscopic lens. (en)

(gr)

Artists’ Short Bios
Sofia Athanasoulia is a visual artist and performance maker whose practice explores transformation and material agency within posthuman ecologies. Using biodegradable bioplastics, light, music and sound, she creates sensorial environments where organic materials embody cycles of decay and regeneration to reveal the porous boundaries between body, technology, and environment. Trained in theatre and scenography, her work merges ecological awareness with aesthetic experimentation to address disconnection and estrangement. Through a language of fragility and flux, she reimagines these processes as acts of resilience, renewal, and rehumanization.

Eleni Palogou is a multidisciplinary artist and scenographer whose practice explores perception, multilayered realities, and site-specific experiences. With a background in architecture, scenography, and socially engaged art, her work operates through media such as scale models, video, projection, and narration to generate spatial experiences. Her scenographic environments subtly replicate and distort familiar spaces, producing moments of perceptual uncertainty that reflect on reality and question how it is formed, mediated, and understood
